Built in 1936, this room honors Swedish architects, manufacturers and builders who contributed to the American landscape. The focal point of the exhibit is a wood inlay mural by Ewald Dahlskog featuring the Chicago skyline in the 1930s. The mural portrays bricklayers, carpenters and architects at work and is made of thousands of individual pieces from over 100 different types of woods.
Consistent with the theme of ingenuity and craftsmanship, the gallery also highlights the museum’s collection of hand-made Swedish silver.
