This room is devoted to the accomplishments of Swedish women and named for feminist Fredrika Bremer (1801-1865), a Swedish novelist and advocate for women’s and human rights.
The gallery presents Bremer’s extraordinary journey to America in 1849-1851 and the life of Nobel Prize-winning author Selma Lagerlöf (1858-1940). The interior of the room is furnished with Swedish furniture, reminiscent of the salon in Lagerlöf’s beloved home, Mårbacka.

Even into the twentieth century, artists worked to capture Bremer's spirit by creating likenesses of her. This bronze statue, called 'The Wanderer', was created by Sigrid Fridman in 1929.
